Mass Spec is running! Great visit of Dr. Ghassemian

Our dear friend and Director of the Biomolecular and Proteomics Mass Spectrometry Facility at UCSD, Dr. Majid Ghassemian, visited us in January for finalizing the installation of the QSTAR Elite Mass Spectrometer and training of our research group.

After two weeks of setting up and training, we collected the first protein identification and proteomics data sets in our lab. The instrument usage will potentially benefit many researchers in our institution.

Our next phase is to complete our recently installed instrument with a line for hydrogen-deuterium exchange mass spectrometry experiments, thus being able to perform biophysical experiments addressing local flexibility in proteins.
